Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The best way to improve your equipment in Path of Exile is through upgrade of your items. This allows you to upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive drops or trades. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear effectively.
Upgrades to equipment give a bonus on the item's stats. The amount of bonus varies based on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components are the parts that make your weapons and armor better. You can find them by destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in item-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that has the components or through high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items upgrades aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.
The primary function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded however, they also serve other purposes. They can be stacked in order to increase the level of the amount of experience gained by upgrading equipment or weapons. They can be forged for additional benefits. For example, a designed glyph will increase the chances of upgrading its target, while the boost upgrade can enhance the defense or attack quality of a weapon or armor.
You can bind an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will display the upgrade components to which the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench for selecting an upgrade template. In either case, an item will be upgraded after enough upgrade components have been collected.
Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item will gain when upgraded using that component. For instance, organic components give an experience multiplier that is higher than mechanical ones. It is therefore recommended to upgrade using organic components until you reach the experience multiplier of the next rank of the weapon or gear, and then switch to mechanical upgrades.
Each item has an upgrade maximum number that it is possible to receive. The number of upgrades available is determined by its upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. The highest upgrade possible is a weapon that is 10th level. The most commonly used upgrade is a gun of tier 6 and an armor upgrade for tier 5.
Sets
A set is a group of items that share a bonus. Each item can be upgraded at the least once. The upgrade increases the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. The first time you upgrade an item, its primary stat will be +1. On subsequent upgrades the stats of the primary one will be increased a bit further (for instance, +1 to 12+/13+/14+) Each time you upgrade the item, one of its extra stats is boosted randomly.
Upgrading a weapon can also increase the damage base, which can be crucial for certain builds. However, weapons can't be upgraded to have a greater defense base than their base. It is possible to increase value of certain set and unique items by upgrading them, however they might not always be better than a Runeword with a high level.
If you are upgrading an item with bonuses, the item can be rerolled one time and the guarantee will reset to zero. The same amount of power dies are used to reroll an item, just as it is used to level it up. However the new item comes with different bonuses. Upgrading can be done by visiting the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need a power die of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; Dice 7 drops from bosses) and the proper amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be purchased with Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. The NPC will also offer an additional reward for each tier of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled one time with the same materials as original item.
Rerolling
A player can play rerolling any item that they acquire during the game, provided they have enough reroll tokens to do so. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced with an equivalent level 1 version from another set. Reroll tokens are sold in the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They are not refundable. The new item will offer the same bonuses as the previous one, but the stats will differ.
In addition to rerolling objects, players can also alter the identification of any item by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification from an armored weapon to a weapon, or vice versa, all the while maintaining its base stats and attributes that are required. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that have the gear in question.
Players can also increase the level of their item on any equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade components and interacting with the item's upgrader NPC. The cost will vary depending on the upgrade track, item type and the number of crests. Each step will give an additional 5% of damage to weapons.
Upgrading an item will make it more powerful however, it can reduce its effectiveness. It is therefore important to strike a balance between the two. Some items are not worth upgrading, while other items need to be upgraded to make them more effective. A player may want to upgrade the breakpoint armor by adding an interesting modification ( percent block chance, or FHR) in order to see what else it can become.
Rerolling is a common practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People do it to gain access to an item or character they would not otherwise be able to acquire. These items can be time-consuming and expensive to acquire, and the RNG doesn't always play nice. The only options is to shell out real money or grind a lot. Rerolling is enhancing equipment in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
When upgrading an item you can choose to level up the weapon or armor. But, this feature does absolutely nothing in the current game. I believe it was intended to be a way to give some value to rare items, but because gear in general drops fairly quickly and can only be upgraded one level up, you'll usually replace the item before it gets old enough. It is also not worth upgrading items using gem sockets because the power of the stone will outweigh any increment in the ilvl.
You will be presented with a small box when you click on the upgrade option on an item. It will display the template for the item, its Crest, as well as the Valorstone cost to raise the level of the item. The cost will differ between armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template shows the stats that will be added to the upgraded item and it also lists the current base ilvl.
The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade templates reduction percentage of lvl. For instance, an upgrade of 8% will decrease the weapon's ilvl by 8 to 88%.
In addition to the increase in ilvl base the item will also get upgrades in other stats such as critical strike damage, damage from PvE and block, parry and dodge rating. The increases are also based on the upgrade template.

In the upgrade template you can check the amount of damage or defense an item will be able to sustain after it is leveled up. This is listed below the cost and upgrade percentages. All armor and weapons apart from practice equipment get these stats when they level up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly rolled weapon or piece of armor able to command much more trade value than non-upp'd versions. Similar is the case for other pieces of armor such as tiaras and circlets.
